Meet Jenny!
Jenny is such an interesting friend to introduce. There is so much that connects us. Our friendship is beautifully ironic. It’s just so uniquely awesome. She is like home to me. We have known each other for over 10 years but have yet to meet each in person. We live over a thousand miles from each other. We met online in 2012 when we were thirteen years old. We’ve stayed connected for over a decade through social media. Jenny has been a huge part of my daily life.
She has liked K-Pop for years. Many years before I got into it. Jenny has tried over and over to convert me into a K-Pop stan. Finally, in 2020, she did it. Now, we share this passion which has added to an already strong friendship. Connection through passions makes our bond very special. Jenny is a passionate person who sees my passion for life, too.
“Our friendship to me means everything. It’s important to me because it’s lasted so long but also because you offer a refreshing perspective. You take me out of my comfort zone and you’re really sweet.” – Jenny
I can share my anxieties and fears with Jenny. She is one of the most supportive friends I have. She is always there when I need help to stay strong and believe in myself. I try to be that same supportive friend to her. She is that person who really listens and stays with me when life throws in the unexpected.
“You taught me that I can be friends with people who grew up completely different from me. We have different political backgrounds, ethnicity, race, economic background, etc. All my life I’ve been around people who although they look different, have similar political views. Talking to you taught me that those things aren’t THAT important if you really care about someone.”
– Jenny
We understand that we won’t ever understand each other completely, and it makes it so much easier to just be there for each other. We respect that we have different ways of approaching life, but that these ways are never wrong. We have faith and trust in each other. This keeps our connection strong. I am truly grateful for the gift of friendship that she gives me.
“Distance is not that big of a deal if you genuinely care about someone. As long as you put in the effort to talk to them and understand them, then that’s all that matters.”
– Jenny
In the past, Jenny and I have gone weeks without texting or talking to each other. Especially throughout high school. That’s okay because the second a text pops up from either of us, it’s like that break was never there. We know our lives will change. We know that our friendship will change, but we know that it will never be only in the past. Friends through it all. My home away from home is Jenny.
