Meet Alli!
Alli and I met in 2021 at the BTS concerts in Los Angeles (read more in That K-Pop Connection). Actually to be more specific, we met at the airport on our way to LA. We figured out that we were staying at the same hotel which turned out to be an amazing coincidence. We decided to stay in touch and go to the concerts together. Funny how our seats were only one section over from each other. Since we met on this trip, we traveled together several more times. All of our moments are captured in this blog or soon will be.
Our friendship is one that I am so thankful to have. Alli was the first person that I had the courage to talk to after I started traveling. Yes she was a stranger, but meeting her was so comfortable because we had such a strong common connection. Now, she is a wonderful friend who adds so much to my life.
In Alli’s Words:
Adventure and Courage
I think our friendship is one of adventure and courage. We met as a result of branching out and daring to love something that others might find strange. It not only takes courage to love something ‘odd’ but we had the courage to just strike up a conversation with a complete stranger… though what else was there to do on a plane? I also love that it hasn’t changed. We still talk about going to shows together and I’m excited to hear about all of your adventures! More adventures await!

The Joy of Common Interests
You may not realize it, but just being able to talk about a common interest that you hold so strongly in your heart means a lot. Serious or silly, I really have fun talking about our opinions and interests in K-Pop, especially our biases. Learning this type of joy has helped me realize more strongly the importance of not judging someone by their interests. I have always tried to not be judgmental in that regard but it’s become more important to me now, knowing what I know. And maybe having learned this, it will open up other doors to new interests that other friends will bring into my life.
So, this is Alli. The One Who Brings Instant Comfort. The friend I appreciate when life is good, and when life is strange, and even when life is just a little off. Connecting with someone that has such a great view of her own world who doesn’t need me in it but wants to include me anyway is so awesome. There will be so many more adventures with Alli, so please check back in for more!
